About
Meet Dr. Mathews
The surgeon, the scientist, the mom.

Why I chose ophthalmology
Two things drew me to ophthalmology. The surgery itself fascinated me: delicate microsurgery that uses both hands and both feet at once. And the results can change someone's life overnight. I still remember a patient reading the eye chart clearly the day after cataract surgery. That's when I knew this was what I wanted to do.
It still never gets old. Every time a patient tells me how eye surgery has changed their life, I feel the same amazement I did then.
Today, as a cataract, cornea and refractive surgeon, I strive to bring that same sense of wonder and care to every patient.
I believe in treating the whole person, not just the eye. Here's what that means for your care →
