Research lets me help far more people than I could ever see in clinic. My work has focused on a few themes:

  • Dry eye and the ocular surface: how dry eye affects reading and daily life, and how conditions like Sjögren's syndrome involve the eye
  • Corneal transplantation: outcomes, new techniques, and expanding access worldwide
  • Cataract and refractive surgery: lens choices and outcomes
  • Patient education and technology: making reliable eye-health information easier to find and understand

I lead and take part in clinical studies so my patients can benefit from the newest treatments, studied carefully.

  • Principal Investigator: TRYPTYR as a new therapy for dry eye in patients with Sjögren's syndrome (2025–present)
  • Principal Investigator: arcuate incisions to correct astigmatism together with the Light Adjustable Lens in cataract and lens replacement surgery (2025–present)
  • Principal Investigator: real-world performance of the TECNIS Odyssey lens (2023–2024)
  • Sub-Investigator: Symfony vs. Vivity lenses; the Synergy and Symfony mix-and-match lens strategy; the XEN glaucoma gel stent; and RHA 1 filler for the under-eye area
